Plot Synopsis

BONUS FAMILY (aka BONUSFAMILJEN in Sweden) is a one-hour family dramedy that follows a new couple, their exes and their children, as they navigate the emotional challenges and tricky logistics of blended family life in Sweden. The series opens with a disastrous joint birthday party for Lisa and Patrik's two sons from previous marriages, causing the couple to attend a group therapy session with their exes. Then, a promise to the kids comes back to haunt Lisa, Patrik embarks on a manly project with the boys, and Martin's plans to buy an apartment hit a snag. BONUS FAMILY has its U.S. premiere on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 10-episode first season.

Season 2 of BONUS FAMILY had its U.S. premiere on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released all 10 episodes of the second season. The new season opens with Lisa and Patrik deciding to take a big step -- despite the kids' objections. After a hookup turns awkward, Martin rethinks his approach to dating. Then, Eddie's mounting problems at school draw Lisa and Martin into a showdown with other parents from the class, leaving Patrik in a tricky position.

On Friday, July 12, 2019, Netflix released the entire 10-episode third season of BONUS FAMILY. As Martin and new partner Sima prepare to welcome a baby, Lisa navigates a whirlwind of emotions. Patrik's dad springs a surprise on the family. Lisa urges Ingmar to share his news with Patrik, Martin takes a side job to save money for a house, and Wille invites Katja on an outing with Henrik.

A kitchen fire, a classroom showdown and a call from the hospital set in motion a flurry of family reckonings and relationship crises. In the season opener, "Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire," on one very unlucky day, Patrik clashes with a student, Lisa gets a new assistant, and Eddie's carelessness creates big problems for Martin and Sima.
