Plot Synopsis

The New Zealand Customs Service patrols the country's borders, while also working on joint task forces with New Zealand Police and Medsafe, to protect its people and businesses. With thousands of boats and planes, scores of passengers and tons of freight arriving from overseas every week, New Zealand's borders are constantly under threat, including drugs, weapons, pornography, and suspected terrorists as well as plant pests and animal diseases that could cripple the economy overnight. Half-hour episodes typically focus on two or three cases, such as: a hand-painted bison skull that must be quarantined; a passenger suspected of smuggling ecstasy; a Hungarian family being questioned about undeclared salami; a Somalian man who is detained for carrying kilos of an unusual drug; cockroaches at an Auckland dairy invade a food container from Fiji; a South American ship that is suspected of smuggling cocaine attached to its hull; and peace-keeping troops that must be inspected for tiny seeds from a weed that adheres to clothing. Travel Channel aired the U.S. premiere of BORDER PATROL on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 4pm with four back-to-back episodes.
