Plot Synopsis

BOSTON EMS is a one-hour reality series that follows the men and women of the Boston Emergency Services: the first step in the chain of trauma care. Every day, the 350 men and women of the EMS are there -- in all seasons and at all hours -- serving up medical expertise accompanied by compassion. This diverse group of public servants is the same heroic emergency service that answered the desperate calls of runners and spectators when bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon more than two years earlier. Treating the injured and ferrying the wounded to hospitals, the Boston EMS earned the gratitude of a shell-shocked and grief-stricken city with their cool-headed professionalism. In the series premiere, cameras arrive at a harrowing scene of a car accident that has left a bicyclist dead and a driver having fled the scene. Paramedics remove from the wreckage a critically injured passenger. The young man pleads with them to tell him whether the bicyclist on the street survived or not -- an answer they know but can't reveal. Also in the series opener: a man pulls himself out of a crashed car before it erupts into flames; a pair of accommodating EMTs surprise a barefoot homeless man with an unexpected gift; a tearful woman confides to an EMT about the devastating loss of her boyfriend whom it turns out he has a connection to; and first responders scour the pitch-dark train tracks for a possible patient hit by the Acela express. On Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the second season of BOSTON EMS. In the season opener, paramedics are called to a crowded public park where a man has been stabbed. When they arrive, the victim's baggy clothes arouse fears that he could be a "human bomb," wired with explosives. Across town, another EMS crew waits anxiously with firemen while police try and persuade a "jumper" to come down from the roof of a building.

On Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the Season 2 finale of BOSTON EMS, showing back-to-back new episodes. On the two-part season finale, a patient gains a new perspective on life after being shot in the thigh, telling paramedics and EMTs that he'll turn his life around to care for his nine-month-old child if he survives. Across town, paramedic Randy Souza shows tough love to a sick patient refusing life-saving medical treatment, persuading him to accept care for the sake of his young children. Paying close attention to anything that has the potential to be a mass causality incident, Deputy Supt. Ed Hassan races to a school where carbon monoxide alarms are ringing and students report feeling dizzy.
