Plot Synopsis
Presented by neuroscientist David Eagleman, THE BRAIN WITH DAVID EAGLEMAN is a six-part series that explores the human brain, revealing the ultimate story of us -- why we feel and think the things we do. According to Eagleman, "in a cubic centimeter of brain tissue there are as many connections as stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. Our thoughts, our hopes, and our dreams are contained in these three pounds of wet biological material. I hope that when viewers watch THE BRAIN, they will take away the love of science and wonder that make us all unique." Each one-hour episode is focused on answering a different question, including: "What is Reality?," which reveals how the brain constructs multi-sensory reality within the silence and darkness of the skull; "What Makes Me?," which investigates how our personality, memories and sense of self all emerge from neural activity; "Who Is in Control?," which explores how the unconscious brain controls much of who we are and what we do; "How Do I Decide?," which chronicles how the brain navigates the thousands of conscious and unconscious decisions made every day; "Why Do I Need You?," which documents how the human brain depends on other brains to thrive and survive; and "Who Will We Be?," which journeys into the future with Eagleman as he asks what's next for the brain and for our species.
