Plot Synopsis

Olympic figure skater Brian Boitano travels to the small village of Favale di Malvaro in northern Italy, the town from where his relatives migrated, where he purchases an old family home that he transforms into a summer villa. This four-episode series follows Brian, as he takes a dilapidated 100-year-old house that has no electricity or plumbing and turns it into a home for family and friends to enjoy. When Brian arrives, he's shocked to discover his cousins, Alma and Maria, secretly removed all the furniture in the house. Then, when construction begins, Brian knocks down interior walls to create an open floor plan, and works with contractor Enzo to build his dream kitchen, complete with a banquette area for big family breakfasts. Brian moves on to the dining room, where, with the help of his nieces and several trips to local flea markets, he creates a new space to complement the new kitchen, while also transforming the dingy adjacent space into a living room with a freestanding fireplace. Moving upstairs, Brian tries to create a bright bathroom from a dirty dark room, where his Italian ancestors roasted chestnuts. After finishing up the final renovations on the bedrooms and outside piazza, Brian entertains all the Boitanos with a home-cooked Italian feast.
