Plot Synopsis

In each one-hour episode of BRIAN JOHNSON'S A LIFE ON THE ROAD, AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson sits down with one of his old rock & roll buddies! He'll learn the ins and outs of living the rockstar lifestyle while on tour, what inspired them to get into the music industry, and maybe even a few wild stories from their glory days. BRIAN JOHNSON'S A LIFE ON THE ROAD had its U.S. premiere on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT on AXS TV.

Sting (U.S. premiere on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): He's possibly one of the most iconic frontmen in all of rock & roll and a member of one of the best bands from the 70s & 80s, The Police! Between his time with The Police and his own solo career, Sting has racked up 17 Grammy awards, a Golden Globe Award, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. He'll talk about when The Police first came to the USA and their sometimes bumpy road to fame.

Robert Plant (U.S. premiere on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): Since 1968, Plant has been gracing this world with some of the best rock & roll known to man. Between his time as Led Zeppelin's frontman and his solo career, Plant has made it known that he is a staple in the rock & roll sector. In 2011, Rolling Stone readers ranked Plant the greatest lead singer of all time and he also has eight Grammy Awards under his belt. Plant joins Brian Johnson to talk about the rockstar lifestyle and the meaning of life in general.

Roger Daltrey (U.S. premiere on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): Roger Daltrey is known best as a founding member and lead singer of the English rock band, The Who. His powerful voice and energetic stage presence have set him apart from all other frontmen for decades. Although The Who is considered to be one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, Daltrey has also had a successful solo career complete with eight studio albums, five compilation albums, and one live album! Joe Elliott (U.S. premiere on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): Known for his distinctive and wide-ranging raspy singing voice, Joe Elliott flat out rocks. Elliott is best known as the lead singer and founding member of the English rock band Def Leppard. To date, Joe is one of the two original members of Def Leppard and one of the three to perform on every one of their albums! Brian Johnson heads to Dublin to meet Elliott, who reflects on Def Leppard's Pyromania and Hysteria tours and reveals the tragedies that befell them along the way.

Lars Ulrich (U.S. premiere on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): This Danish musician, songwriter, record producer, and now podcaster is best known as the drummer and co-founder of the American heavy metal band, Metallica! Ulrich's drum style is unique and recognizable and has helped earn the band eight Grammy Awards. On his episode, Brian Johnson heads to San Rafael, California, to meet with Ulrich who shares candid stories from his band's legendary Wherever We May Roam tour.

Nick Mason (U.S. premiere on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): He's a founding member of Pink Floyd, the ONLY Pink Floyd member to have been featured on all of their studio albums and the only constant member of the band since its formation in 1965! Nick Mason is a true rock legend whose skills are unmatched. He even won a Grammy award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for Marooned. Mason gives Brian Johnson a tour of his car collection in the Cotswolds and reveals the secrets behind Pink Floyd's elaborate live shows.

Billy Joel (U.S. premiere on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): Billy Joel, otherwise known as the Piano Man, is one of the best-selling music artists of all time! This American singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist is the sixth best-selling recording artist and the third best-selling solo artist in the United States. Throughout his 20-year solo career, Joel produced 33 Top 40 hits in the USA, all of which he wrote himself. Brian Johnson meets the Piano Man at his motorcycle shop in Oyster Bay, Long Island to discuss some of his most memorable tours and career moments.

Joe Walsh (U.S. premiere on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): Simply put, Joe Walsh has been an icon in the rock & roll scene for over 50 years! This American guitarist, singer, and songwriter has been a member of four successful rock bands including James Gang, Barnstorm, Eagles, the Party Boys, and Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. Walsh was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. On his episode, he joins Brian Johnson for a ride in a limo around some of LA's most important music spots and Joe reflects on his early days in the James Gang and subsequent career with The Eagles.

Dolly Parton (U.S. premiere on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): Brian Johnson steps out of the rock & roll world and into the wild world of country! Dolly Parton is a country legend and has the awards to prove it. She has garnered nine Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, ten Country Music Association Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and is one of only seven female artists to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award. Brian Johnson meets with Dolly Parton at her base in Nashville to share stories about what life is really like on the road.

Mark Knopfler (U.S. premiere on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): This British singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and film score composer, Mark Knopfler founded Dire Straits with his younger brother, David Knopfler in the 70s. Since Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, Knopfler has recorded and produced nine solo albums and has had a successful solo career. Mark has recorded and performed with many prominent musicians including B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Elton John, George Jones, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Sting, Emmylou Harris, and even James Taylor. On his episode, Mark takes Brian on a trip around their beloved Northumberland and reveals insights into his early journey in music and subsequent superstardom with Dire Straits.

Brian Johnson joins Rodgers on tour in the USA to hear Paul's candid stories from his varied and diverse career as a singer within some of rock's most celebrated bands.

Mick Fleetwood (U.S. premiere on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT): The season ends with one of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac, Mick Fleetwood! Fleetwood has been in the game since the '70s and has mastered more than just his music as he explored the acting world and currently has three restaurants in Virginia and Hawaii. For the season's finale, Brian Johnson heads to Hawaii to talk to Mick about his incredible and unique journey as the lynchpin of Fleetwood Mac during the band's extraordinary and enduring success. In this interview, Mick touches on the moment Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band when they moved to LA. He thought the record label might be worried about their reputation after various lineup changes, so he sipped a few glasses of brandy and headed down to the record company to stand up to one of their biggest executives with a few demos in hand. Thankfully, he also heard the magic on the tapes and the rest as they say is history.
