Plot Synopsis

Set in Colorado, BUILDING ROOTS is a one-hour renovation series that follows husband-and-wife duo Ben and Cristi Dozier, as they build, design and renovate properties in their hometown of Pagosa Springs. In the series premiere, "Bringing the Outdoors In," the Doziers meet new clients from Texas, who just purchased a family home in the mountains. Inspired by the property's location along the Rio Blanco River and surrounding national forests, Ben and Cristi pull out all the stops to update the home and maximize its views of the great outdoors -- from an expanded deck outside to a fresh interior with lots of natural light. Plus, during the same episode, Cristi also turns a drab basecamp for a local horse-riding outfitter into a magical glamping destination for adventure seekers.

Season 2 of BUILDING ROOTS debuted on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. Husband-and-wife renovation duo Ben and Cristi Dozier bring more high-altitude, high-design transformations. Throughout the eight-episode season, the Doziers work with families looking to put down roots in their hometown of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. In each episode, they dream up elevated designs that draw inspiration from the area's sweeping mountain vistas, red clay canyons and winding river bends. In the season opener, "Dome Sweet Dome," Ben and Cristi meet a Dallas-based couple who bought a one-of-a-kind dome house built by a local artist in the '90s. Before these Texans can make this unique mountain property their permanent residence, the Doziers need to find creative ways to modernize the home while incorporating the original stucco fireplace, salvaged wood staircase and glass grow dome. Later in the season, Ben and Cristi will bring their alpine aesthetic to Nashville, Tennessee, to renovate a young couple's home with tranquil river views, and while in town they'll carry out a sentimental makeover for Cristi's sister, Amy.

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT, HGTV premiered "Out with the Old, In with the Old World," the Season 2 finale of BUILDING ROOTS. First-time homebuyers purchased the 50-acre ranch that she grew up on, but it's a house stuck in the '70s with a cramped and characterless kitchen. Ben and Cristi use new elements to create a home with old world charm, including a centerpiece stone wall.
