Plot Synopsis

BUYING LOG HOMES is two-part special that follows people looking for log cabins in the American wilderness. Whether they're looking for cabins in the deep woods of Colorado's Rocky Mountains or cottages near one of Minnesota's lakes, these home buyers weigh the pros and cons of each home and then decide which property meets their needs, budgets, and rustic dreams. Each 30-minute episode features an agent showing three properties, one of which is selected by a different set of house seekers, including: Kevin and Jennifer Riskevich, who have $1.5 million to spend on a cabin up north, as they escape the hustle and bustle of the Twin Cities; Matt and Genevieve Embler, newlyweds leaving the East Coast for the Rockies, who must choose between a river cabin, a remote log home, and a third house that comes with 17 acres of privacy. Destination America aired back-to-back, half-hour specials of BUYING LOG HOMES on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 9-10pm ET/PT, an hour earlier than originally scheduled.
