Plot Synopsis

CAKE is a weekly half-hour comedy block of short-form works, celebrating live-action and animation that's thought-provoking, laugh-inducing, surprising, authentic and raw. Featuring a diverse array of narratives from storytellers both new and established, this handcrafted assortment of bite-sized shorts is carefully curated around that episode's theme, including: identity vs. technology; outward persona and the struggle within; inside thoughts meet outside actions; and more. When CAKE was announced as a series, John Landgraf, Chairman of FX Network and FX Productions, revealed that the series is "its own unique series as well as incubator for shorter shows that could be developed into half-hour series."

The sophomore season of CAKE premiered on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as FXX debuted back-to-back episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "Brodeo," saddle up and bro down. Then, in the second half hour (10:30pm), "Gene Therapy," discover how oversharing is caring.

CAKE returned for its third season with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 10-11pm ET/PT on FXX. The season opener (10pm), "Cos and Effect," features a heroic dose of do-goodery. The night's second episode (10:30pm), "Swipe Left," tells a postmodern deconstructionist love story, with a twist of kung fu troll goosing.

The nine-episode fourth season of CAKE debuted on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 10-11:10pm ET/PT on FXX, as the cable channel premiered back-to-back new episodes: "Ask, Believe, Receive" (10pm): and "Here, There and Nowhere" (10:35pm).
