Plot Synopsis

Each of the three episodes focuses on one extraordinary building and reveals the challenges faced by the teams of builders and architects. These challenges include constructing a skyscraper whose very design creates huge forces intent on ripping the building's foundations out of the ground and bringing to life a round skyscraper taller than the Statue of Liberty with a curved glass skin covering the area of four football fields. The three buildings featured are: the 65,000-ton Aldar HQ in Abu Dhabi, the first building built in the form of a circle and sitting on its edge; Abu Dhabi's gravity-defying Capital Gate skyscraper, which leans at an astonishing 18 degrees westward -- five times further over than the infamous Tower of Pisa; and Dubai's 55-Degrees Time building, which is the world's first fully rotating building, holding 200 luxury apartments. In the United States, these three episodes aired as a limited series, CAN IT BE BUILT?, but these same three episodes were part of the MEGASTRUCTURES series throughout the rest of the world.
