Plot Synopsis

While driving a cab on the streets of New York City, host Ben Bailey picks up unsuspecting riders who become on-air game show contestants inside the cab/mobile set. Quizzed on immersive, general knowledge questions all the way to their destination, the questions get harder and the stakes get higher as the meter ticks away. If the contestant misses three questions, Ben pulls to the side and drops off his passenger -- no matter how far away they are from their destination. Ben Bailey returned for a new season of CASH CAB, which premieres on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as Discovery Channel debuts back-to-back new episodes featuring Scott Bakula (10pm) and Gilbert Gottfried (10:30pm). Dodging New York City traffic, Bailey's lucky passengers take on classic CASH CAB trivia en route to their destination. If they get stumped, pedestrians and friends can help them out via phone, text or social media shout outs. Some unwitting passengers will even be joined by a guest celebrity who help the passengers rack up the cash. In addition to Bakula and Gottfried, the celebrity line-up this season includes Matthew Perry, Brooke Shields, Dave Foley, Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman. If the riders and celebrities get three questions wrong, though, they're out on the street. The upcoming season is full of surprises and detours that help unsuspecting passengers score big rewards. Comedian David Steinberg helms the project as executive producer. Bailey also serves as executive producer.

On Friday, July 27, 2018 from 7-8pm ET/PT, Discovery premiered a special one-hour Shark Week edition of CASH CAB, which also serves as a season premiere. Three chums from Ohio hail the Cash Cab on their very first day in New York, and a family of three go for a ride as their youngest member proves kids really do know best, impressing Ben with her smarts. Then, Shark Week and Fleet week collide when three midshipmen docked in town jump into the cab for the ride of their lives. The episode features videos from some of the most renowned divers and photographers who audiences have seen braving the waters year after year bringing these beautiful creatures to the screen, including Andrew Mayne and Andy Casagrande. Will they have what it takes to navigate the waters of Shark Week and stay alive in the cab? The all-new season continues on Friday, August 3 at 7pm, as Ben Bailey's lucky passengers take on the classic Cash Cab trivia. From pop culture to hard science, traveling uptown to downtown, contestants will showcase their ability to think under pressure as the sights of NYC zoom by - but can their trivia skills get them to the final destination?
