Plot Synopsis

CATCHING MONSTERS is a one-hour reality series that follows a group of fisherman who search for monster Atlantic Bluefin Tuna within 1,000 square nautical miles in the unforgiving North Atlantic. Every Fall, a brave group of fishermen abandon their jobs as lobstermen for six weeks to pursue monsters of the deep that can bring in a fortune. During the initial fishing season, each boat is allocated only one fish, but after September 30, new tags are issued through a draw to fish any remaining allocation. Battling this elusive predator takes patience, strategy and brute strength. Up in the North Atlantic's hallowed waters, Bluefin Tuna can measure up to 15 feet long, weigh 1,500 pounds and swim over 40 miles an hour. But it's not just their size that's massive. These beasts -- measuring the size of a small car -- are considered the most valuable fish in the sea, with many fetching over $10,000 dollars each. Backbreaking fights with these 1000-pounders can last hours and often the battles end in soul crushing devastation.
On Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered the season finale of CATCHING MONSTERS. In the season ender, "Last of the Giant Bluefin," it's the final day of tuna season and only a couple giants still remain in the frigid waters. The pressure is intense as Captain Jeff Mills makes one last effort to catch a money fish. Also, Steve Clapperton strives for a huge catch for his final client.
