Plot Synopsis

THE CHAIR is a reality series that follows two filmmakers, Shane Dawson and Anna Martemucci, as they vie for the $250,000 prize by creating their own adaptation of the same screenplay, while using the same location and budget. Both adaptations will air on Starz. This series documents the creation, marketing and theatrical release of both adaptations of Dan Schoffer's coming-of-age screenplay, "How Soon is Now," while centers on college students coming home for Thanksgiving. During the process, executive producer Chris Moore, Shader, and actor Zachary Quinto serve as mentors. Dawson is an internet superstar whose YouTube comedy channels boast more than 10 million subscribers and over a billion views. Martemucci is a writer, actor and filmmaker who most recently received critical recognition for her independent film BREAKUP AT A WEDDING, which she starred in and wrote. THE CHAIR premiered on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11pm ET/PT on Starz, and on the same day the cable network made the first five episodes available on STARZ PLAY and STARZ ON DEMAND for viewers wishing to binge-watch the series.

Starz broadcast the cable premieres of the show's two movies, HOLLIDAYSBURG (Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10pm ET) and NOT COOL (Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 10pm ET). Both movies were previously released in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on consecutive Fridays in September 2014 -- HOLLIDAYSBURGS (NY on 9/19 and LA on 9/26) and NOT COOL (LA on 9/19 and NY on 9/26) -- and were also released for digital streaming on iTunes, Amazon on Demand, Google Play, and other digital platforms between the two theatrical release dates.

On Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, Starz debuted the season finale of THE CHAIR. In the season ender, "Outside the Bubble," Shane gets unexpected news, while Anna receives reactions from the test screening. Plus, the winner is announced.
