Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by series star Sandra Oh and writer/showrunner/EP Amanda Peet, THE CHAIR is a half-hour dramedy series that follows Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim as she navigates her new role as the Chair of the English department at prestigious Pembroke University. Ji-Yoon is faced with a unique set of challenges as the first woman to chair the department, and as one of the few staff members of color at the university. With the department facing budget cuts and low enrollment, Ji-Yoon vows to make some changes as chair while one professor struggles to keep it together. Tired of the lack of diversity in Pembroke's staff, Ji-Yoon makes a bold decision during a faculty soiree. The entire six-episode first season of THE CHAIR dropped on Friday, August 20, 2021 on Netflix.
