Plot Synopsis

At Berlin's Charite hospital in 1888, new nurse Ida Lenze finds romance and a path to her dream job of becoming a doctor like Robert Koch, who's working on a cure for tuberculosis and diphtheria. The series opens with sick young nanny Ida stumbling into the Berlin Charite hospital. Dr. Robert Koch's work on a tuberculosis cure attracts two physicians and an actress. Spinola repays Behring for saving a life. Ida is urged to pursue an ambitious dream. Koch receives two visitors: a Tokyo doctor and the new emperor. Koch reveals big news at the congress while Ehrlich struggles to find a doctor to deliver his wife's breech baby. Tischendorf and Ida's romance blooms. CHARITE had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the six-episode first season.
