Plot Synopsis

Based on Abi Umeda's graphic novel, this half-hour anime series that centers on magic wielder and archivist Chakuro, whose curiosity about the world beyond his island, Mud Whale. His peaceful life in interrupted by the appearance of another island, where he meets Lykos, a girl living there. But her arrival heralds a larger conflict. The rebellious Ouni takes Chakuro and Lykos back to her island. She explains that she's an Apatheia, a soldier who's lost her emotions. The Mud Whale is invaded by the ruthless and mysterious troops of the "Empire." Using magic, Ouni and some of the others begin fighting back. CHILDREN OF THE WHALES had its U.S. premiere on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 12-episode first season.
