Plot Synopsis
It was the war that divided America in a brutal conflict that cost more than 600,000 American lives -- a death toll higher than that of WWI, WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined. At its heart, the Civil War is history's ultimate family feud, pitting brother against brother in a vicious, four-year campaign that almost destroyed a young nation. CIVIL WAR: BLOOD ON THE BATTLEFIELDS opens in the spring of 1861, as America's grand experiment in democracy is on the verge of collapse. The country is going to war and majestic landscapes becomes hell on earth. As summer of 1862 approaches, the American Civil War is in its second year. It has become a more brutal and bloody conflict than anyone ever believed possible. North and South march on, knowing the next battlefield is just beyond the horizon. By January of 1863, the American Civil War has entered its third year. More than 200,000 soldiers have been killed or wounded and still there is no end in sight. With both committed to victory, the Civil War is about to enter its bloodiest days.
