Plot Synopsis

This series examines the effects of natural forces -- asteroid collisions, glaciations, sudden volcanism and plate tectonics -- to understand how our present world came to be and how it evolved from a single supercontinent that dominated Earth millions of years ago. Plus, this program searches for answers to many other questions: Since these forces are still at work, what might happen to the Earth's surface in the future? If these continental shifts cause the demise of mankind, what will future fossils look like? Will man slowly evolve over time and adapt but eventually die out? Or will humans cease to exist over a very short period of time because of some cataclysmic event?
