Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Peyton Manning, with his brother Cooper Manning as sideline reporter, COLLEGE BOWL is a quiz show features 12 schools competing in a bracketed tournament over four rounds where teams vie for the most points. The top two teams advance to the final where they compete head-to-head and where one will ultimately declare victory. Participating teams were selected from schools of all sizes with the individuals receiving a significant scholarship for participating. The winning team members have a chance to take home even bigger scholarships, in addition to bragging rights as the champions. The 10-episode series is a reboot of the classic COLLEGE BOWL, with a series opener featuring Alabama vs. Auburn and Michigan vs. Minnesota. Eight of the 12 teams advanced to the quarterfinals, where Alabama beat Michigan, Auburn snuck past Ole Miss, Columbia dominated Tennessee, and USC bested cross-town rival UCLA. The four teams eliminated after the qualifiers were: Morehouse, University of Virginia, Minnesota, and Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA).

The sophomore season of COLLEGE BOWL premiered on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 8-10pm ET/PT, with back-to-back episodes on NBC. Peyton Manning and Cooper Manning return to host the program, as the nation's greatest colleges and universities face off in the ultimate battle of brains. Plus, NBC Data Analyst Steve Kornacki joins on the sidelines to break down the numbers behind the match-ups. More schools than ever before are competing, bringing more school spirit -0 from marching bands to mascots to a live audience cheering them on. With a wide variety of subjects, teams must work together to test their knowledge in a five-round tournament. The top two schools advance to the final where they compete for the coveted "Capital One College Bowl" trophy and life-changing scholarship money. (Capital One will award $1 million in scholarships, providing all student competitors from the above institutions with tuition assistance for their participation.) The qualifiers featured: Ohio State University vs. University of Notre Dame; University of Texas at Austin vs. University of Oklahoma; University of Florida vs. University of Georgia; University of Washington vs. Brigham Young University; Penn State University vs. Syracuse University; Albany State University vs. Spelman College; University of California, Santa Barbara vs. Morehouse College; and Duke University vs. reigning champion Columbia University.
