Plot Synopsis
Since 1976, The Collegiate Women Sports Awards program recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding female athletes in NCAA-member colleges and universities around the country, as voted on by all NCAA member institutions. The program's highest honor goes annually to the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year, with past winners including Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Mia Hamm, Lisa Fernandez, Misty May, Courtney Kupets and Candace Parker. In 2011, University of Connecticut basketball star Maya Moore was the first woman to be a back-to-back winner of the Honda-Broderick Cup. In 2012 -- on the 40th anniversary of Title IX -- the Collegiate Women Sports Award Presentation aired live on national television for the first time from the ESPN Studios in Los Angeles, with three Honda Cup finalists: Brittney Griner, Baylor University; Teresa Noyola, Stanford; and Keilani Ricketts, University of Oklahoma. On Monday, June 30, 2014 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, CBS Sports aired a live telecast of the 2014 COLLEGIATE WOMEN SPORTS AWARD presentation from the USC Galen Center Founders Room in Los Angeles, CA.
