Plot Synopsis

In this scripted medical drama set in 2006, a group of resident doctors and nurses from Canada, America, the U.K. and other allied countries work at the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit at Kandahar Airfield, the only military hospital providing advanced surgical care in all of Southern Afghanistan. This team of medical professionals navigates the relentless life-and-death battles on the operating table, and the never-ending conflicts that arise from working in a war zone military hospital. Perched at the edge of the airfield and built out of plywood and canvas held together with duct tape, the temporary building that houses the Role 3 shakes every time a plane takes off. Plus, they must deal with rocket attacks, flying shrapnel and wave after wave of wounded U.S. Marines, Canadian soldiers, Afghan civilians and even a Taliban prisoner. The team includes: Colonel Xavier Marks; Dr. Rebecca Gordon, a highly-trained trauma surgeon from Canada who thinks she can handle anything; Captain Bobby Trang, a brand-new doctor and trauma team leader who is acutely conscious of his inexperience; neurosurgeon Dr. Simon Hill; Australian army psychiatrist Major Grace Pedersen; and Commander Will Royal, the Chief of Nursing.
