Plot Synopsis

Set in the near future, 38-year-old neuropsychologist Eadie Boulay is desperate to conceive a child. Faced with next-level climate change, the question of bringing a child into the world is a whole lot more complicated than it used to be. The brilliant Eadie just wants a normal life, but the world around her won't let her have it. She longs to have a child with her vector biologist husband, Lloyd, but multiple unsuccessful IVF treatments have put her dreams of motherhood on hold. Meanwhile, the world around her is in chaos, as global warming and parasitic diseases have made the divide between rich and poor even greater. Eadie's desperation to conceive leads to a dangerous bargain with Shay, but her offer to take his National Service days at one of the city's Resettlement Centers will seem a small price to pay for the chance to have a child. THE COMMONS had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as SundanceNow released the first episode. A new episode debuts each Thursday, through January 21, 2021.
