Plot Synopsis

After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family -- Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. -- grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. The family prevails through it all -- the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns -- with love, humor and perseverance. The series features John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky), Michael Fishman (D.J.), Emma Kenney (Harris), Ames McNamara (Mark) and Jayden Rey (Mary) as their beloved Conner characters, with the new addition of Maya Lynne Robinson (Geena). Guest stars in the series premiere include Estelle Parsons as Beverly, James Pickens Jr. as Chuck, and Natalie West as Crystal.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the second season of THE CONNERS. In the season opener, "Preemies, Weed and Infidelity," in the wake of Emilio's deportation, Jackie steps into the role of a paternal figure and creates a meticulous birth plan for Becky; but as the Conners know, nothing ever goes according to plan. Meanwhile, Darlene is tangled in a complex love triangle with David and Ben, and -- like her mother -- Harris is caught up in a problem of her own.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT, ABC debuts "Throwing a Christian to a Bear," the winter premiere of THE CONNERS. The Conners struggle to accept a Cheesehead in their midst when Becky brings her new boyfriend, a devout Christian and a Green Bay Packers fan, home to watch the Bears/Packers game. Meanwhile, Dan tries to impress upon Mark the importance of the family's die-hard loyalty to the Bears. Ben and Darlene try to get a loan for their new magazine. Guest starring are Jay R. Ferguson as Ben, Tim Baltz as Wyatt and David Theume as the loan broker.

Three weeks later -- on Tuesday, February 11 at 8pm ET/PT -- the cast of THE CONNERS will perform live for both East and West coast broadcasts, and ABC News coverage of the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary will be incorporated into the story in real time as the results roll in during the evening. The live episode will find Mark watching the results of the primary for a school report with Harris, who is apathetic to the electoral process and believes money's influence in politics means real change is impossible. The rest of the Conners share their differing takes on why they all think everyone should vote, including their working-class perspective that you may have to vote for a candidate you don't love but one that will "screw you the least." All of this happens against the backdrop of romance when Louise (guest star Katey Sagal) gets an opportunity that might send her away from Lanford, prompting the family to interfere in Dan's complicated relationship with her by throwing Louise a surprise going-away party, creating major new tensions between Dan and his daughters.
