Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Elaine Welteroth, David Lawrence and Marc J. Spears, THE CONVERSATIONS PROJECT is a six-episode series that is a reimagined take on the Harlem Renaissance Salon, a dinner gathering. A conversation series of funny, fearless, and far-ranging dinner parties with great Black guests, from athletes and entertainers to astronauts, Michelin-starred chefs, and philosophers. Every 30-minute episode is designed to pull back the curtain as the hosts and guests share their opinions and experiences on various topics -- from the fleeting to the indelible -- over incredible food and wine. Guests include: Jim Jones, Ming Lee, Naturi Naughton, Roxanne Shante, Ally Love, Ian Lara, Roy Wood Jr, Zerina Akers, Leyna Bloom, Andrea Lewis and more. All six episodes dropped on Monday, August 28, 2023 on Hulu:

"Rest Is Our Ancestor's Wildest Dream": From infamous girl group to the ultimate gangster mother role, Naturi Naughton and other guests discuss the black hair struggle, code switching and our ancestors dreams to get some real rest.

"You Don't Aioli a Black-Eyed Pea": Battle rapper, Roxanne Shante, Roy Wood Jr. and other guests discuss the proper use of the "N" word and who is allowed to use it along with the challenges we face to parent black boys.

"I Used to Just Think My Idea Tastes Good": From prison cell to political office, Shyne and the other guests share their varied perspectives on reparations, spirituality and the black man's need to manage their mental health.

"The Hardest Fight Is The Fight Against Status Quo": Activist and actress, Layna Bloom and other guests discuss rewriting black history and have an open discussion about making space and time for black trans women.

"We Him": Harlem's own rapper, actor and now community advocate, Jim Jones, operating on Jim time, joins our guests to discuss the sentiment of Black Lives Matter and that representation matters too.

"Your Success Is Not My Failure": Brett Gray, star of ON MY BLOCK and STAR TREK PRODIGY and other guests challenge old school norms as they discuss the roles of a leader versus an influencer and why everyone needs to be on social media.
