Plot Synopsis

COOPER'S TREASURE is a one-hour reality series that follows the quest of treasure hunter Darrell Miklos as he attempts to decode the treasure map of his boyhood idol Gordon Cooper. Considered one of NASA's original space pioneers, Cooper uncovered troves of data and taking some of the most iconic photographs of Earth. In 1963 onboard Faith 7, Gordon smashed the record for the longest space flight by completing a 122-hour mission aboard but during this mission he also discovered something incredible: a secret he'd keep for decades. While circling the Earth, he noted an anomaly around the South Caribbean. Working for decades in secret, Gordon created a map that he believed could uncover billions of dollars-worth of treasure. Before passing away, Gordon shared his secret with his long-time friend Darrell Miklos. Darrell is now setting out with a team of seasoned explorers and researchers to uncover treasure and once and for all accomplish Gordon's long-held dream. Season 2 of COOPER'S TREASURE premiered on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 9pm ET/T on Discovery Channel. Last season, Miklos located a shipwreck possibly tied to Christopher Columbus using Cooper's intel. But within hours of finding the wreckage, a rival treasure hunter made a competing claim and the government shut down the hunt, tying up Miklos's search for years. After discovering photos of the Bahamas in Gordon's files and a list of 11 wreck sites that Gordon himself tracked, Darrell sets sail with new clues, high tech gear, and a team of experts, including shipwreck recovery specialist Eric Schmitt, marine archeologist Jim Sinclair, and survey expert Mike Perna, to finish the hunt Gordon started decades ago. The expedition leads to incredible finds including gold coins, gold ore, and dozens of priceless artifacts from a multitude of historic wrecks -- potentially the richest and most historic discoveries of Darrell's career. In the season opener, "500 Million Dollar List," Darrell and the crew make the first big discovery of the expedition as they follow new clues and Gordon Cooper's treasure map from space to an area known as the "holy grail" of colonial era shipwrecks in the Bahamas.

On Friday, August 17, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered "Striking Gold," the Season 2 finale of COOPER'S TREASURE. Leading to one of the richest finds in Darrell's career, the team discovers ornate artifacts that indicate the location of a 16th-century captain's quarters.
