Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1967, the Country Music Association (CMA) has annually honored the best in country music. The first ceremony, then known as the CMA AWARDS BANQUET AND SHOW, was held in 1967, and the CMA AWARDS were broadcast the following year for the first time by NBC. NBC telecast the event for four years, with CBS taking over for a 34-year run from 1972-2005. The CMA AWARDS have aired on ABC since 2006.
The 53rd Annual CMA AWARDS airs live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN on ABC on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 8-11pm ET (live)/8-11pm PT (tape delay). This year's program is hosted by Carrie Underwood, with special guest hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. Scheduled performers include:

- Women in Country Music unite for a not-to-be-missed opening performance. Led by Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, the group also features Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, The Highwomen (comprised of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires), Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson, each performing iconic country songs for a decades-spanning medley.

- Kelsea Ballerini, Lindsay Ell, Little Big Town, Maddie & Tae, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce and Runaway June join together for an epic performance of a recent CMA Song of the Year and CMA Single of the Year.

- A special tribute country music star Kris Kristofferson, who is receiving the 2019 Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Dierks Bentley with Sheryl Crow, Chris Janson and John Osborne will perform Kristofferson's classic "Me & Bobby McGee."

- Plus, additional performances and collaborations by Brooks & Dunn with Brothers Osborne, Garth Brooks with Blake Shelton, Dan + Shay, Kacey Musgraves with Willie Nelson, Lady Antebellum and Halsey.
