Plot Synopsis

CRIKEY! IT'S THE IRWINS is a one-hour reality series that follows the Irwins -- Terri, Bindi and Robert -- as they work thoughtfully and tirelessly to carry on Steve's mission to bring people closer to animals and ignite the connection that ensures an abundance of wildlife for generations to come. From running Australia's largest family-owned zoo, Australia Zoo in Queensland, to crisscrossing the world protecting and celebrating the most wondrous animals on the planet, viewers have a front row seat to the sights and sounds of their thrilling wildlife adventures around the globe and the amazing animals that continue to inspire their conservation efforts. In this series, the Irwin work together to care for more than 1,200 animals at Australia Zoo; overseeing a world class wildlife hospital, the largest of its kind in the world; and conducting high-octane global expeditions. Animal Planet audiences ride along with Terri as she propels Steve's conservation mission forward, which has included expanding the once two-acre Australia Zoo into a world-class 750+-acre zoo with 105 acres open to the public. Bindi, now 20 years old, focuses her passion for animals at Australia Zoo's Wildlife Hospital, Australia's best equipped wildlife treatment facility which rescues, rehabilitates and releases sick, injured, or orphaned native wildlife. Robert demonstrates a curiosity, deep knowledge and expertise for all the animals around him, as well as an infectious enthusiasm to share this experience with others; a memorable trait often showcased by his father. In the series opener, "Steve's Legacy Continues," Robert -- after months of croc wrangling training with Steve Irwin's best friend Wes -- takes the final step in his journey to feed Graham, a huge crocodile at the zoo's famous Crocoseum. Originally rescued by Steve, Graham is the Zoo's largest and most volatile big croc, with a history of dragging Steve Irwin into the water during a routine capture, and separately injuring Wes with a surprise death roll that left him hospitalized. Bindi helps tend to Cedar, a rescue koala that has given birth to a rare set of twin joeys who must now survive the 6 to 8-month period before they can leave Cedar's pouch. Bindi and the zookeepers face ongoing challenges to keep the twin joeys alive as nature and survival of the fittest comes into play as one of the rarest types of koala pregnancies leaves the two joeys struggling and fighting for life.

The sophomore season of CRIKEY! IT'S THE IRWINS premiered on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the season opener, "Bosco The Croc's Big Move," the family builds a spectacular new home for their crocodiles in preparation for Australia Zoo's 50th Anniversary. Robert helps move all their crocodiles and alligators by hand, starting with Bosco, the most aggressive croc in the Zoo; Bindi investigates a knee problem on Forest, the Zoo's largest giraffe; and Terri helps Harley the koala find love to help keep the koala population thriving. Later in the season, Robert continues to take on daring missions such as swimming with Gloria, a 12-foot reticulated python in the Zoo's Crocoseum, and learning to handle his first ever wild rattlesnake in Arizona. Terri returns to her home state of Oregon to do a special check-up on Brady the cougar, a species she is extremely passionate about, and Bindi and fiancee, Chandler Powell, release animals that have been nursed back to health at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

Season 3 of CRIKEY! IT'S THE IRWINS premiered on Sunday, February 7, 2021 on discovery+ with a special presentation of the first episode at 5pm ET/PT on Animal Planet, immediately following PUPPY BOWL XVII. The new season features Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin, and Bindi's husband Chandler Powell, as they continue Steve Irwin's mission to bring people closer to animals and inspire them to become Wildlife Warriors to help protect and preserve our environment and its animals. With this mission in mind, the Irwins continue to take up the mantle during the global pandemic as the new season opens with Terri delivering the much-anticipated news that Australia Zoo will finally reopen after being closed for 78 days due to COVID-19; Bindi and the team at the wildlife hospital find themselves in a desperate race to save a dozen corellas; and Robert witnesses the incredible birth of three tiger cubs. Prior to the challenges of the pandemic, Australia faced devastating brushfires that wreaked havoc on the country's landscape and wildlife population. The Irwins efforts to help as many animals as possible are the focus of a special episode. This season will also follow personal family milestones as newlyweds Bindi and Chandler prepare to welcome their own little Wildlife Warrior to the world, and Robert learns how to drive with the help of Terri and Bindi in his dad's iconic old ute. Other CRIKEY! IT'S THE IRWINS stories this season include Terri and Robert secretly trying to guess the sex of Bindi's baby, while Bindi and Chandler have their own surprise in store; Bindi and Terri assisting the zoo's dedicated vet team as they treat a multitude of animals at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital; Robert continuing his father's legacy as he faces off with Bosco, the most aggressive crocodile at Australia Zoo; Chandler stepping up during the croc show for Robert when an injury prevents him from participating; and Bindi and Chandler studying coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef. Additionally, four rescued Sumatran Elephants arrive to Australia Zoo from Indonesia, fulfilling a dream that began over 30 years ago when Steve and Terri decided to fight for the survival of this critically endangered species.
