Plot Synopsis

In DARK MATTER, an adaptation of the graphic novel series of the same name, the crew of a derelict spaceship is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Once they reach their destination, a mining colony, they begin to look for answers while working together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets. Charming but a bit of a goof, One (aka Pretty Boy) is the crew's moral center, a guy who always tries to do the right thing, despite the odds stacked against him and no matter how unpopular the course of action. But the group's de facto leader is Two (aka Boss Lady), a master fighter. Determined, tough and more than a little headstrong, she is not the type you want to mess with -- or disappoint. She can be cool and inscrutable and yet, at the same time, can demonstrate surprising compassion -- the mark of a true leader. On the flip side to One's principled coin is Three (aka Sunshine), which is why the two are often at odds, developing a (grudging) like-hate relationship over the course of their journey. He is a mercenary through-and-through, a Han Solo type, always looking out for himself. But he must come to accept the fact that if he's going to survive long enough to reach the outer colonies, he's going to have to learn to get along. Four (aka Slashy McStabberson) is an ever-stoic master of the blade with a cool, calm demeanor belies a ruthlessness that gives even his fellow crewmembers pause. He's a man of few words but, when he does speak - just like when he fights -- it's with precise efficiency. A fierce and relentless opponent, he is also an equally loyal and passionate friend. Meanwhile, Five (aka Kid) has some mysterious abilities that first seem like telepathic powers which turn out to be jumbled memories, but whose memories are they? She's the kid with all the secrets and a propensity for getting into trouble. Easily bored, quick to mouth off, she is nevertheless a relative innocent amongst less savory company. On the surface, Six (aka Tiny) is a low-key bruiser, an imposing figure amongst a group of intimidating individuals. Despite the company he keeps, he is a man of integrity with little patience for B.S. Cross him at your own risk. Beneath the rough and tumble exterior, however, is a heart of gold. A surprisingly simple guy, his quiet confidence belies a fierce intelligence and philosophical nature. Android is concise and staid, but with a surprisingly subtle wry sense of humor. She is an indispensable member of the crew since she can exercise control over all the ship's systems, an ability of which she isn't shy about reminding everyone. An outsider among the ship's human passengers, she is almost child-like in her earnest desire to fit in. The 13-episode second season of DARK MATTER premiered on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Syfy. In the season opener, "Welcome to Your New Home," the crew awaken to find themselves being held prisoners on the Hyperion-8 Maximum Security Galactic Detention Facility. On Friday, June 9, 2017 from 8-10pm ET/PT, Syfy premiered the third season of DARK MATTER, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the Season 2 finale the EOS 7 space station is destroyed while TWO, THREE, FIVE, and SIX are still onboard. TWO and SIX escape the blast in the Marauder, but the shuttle is damaged in the blast, leaving them floating dead in space. THREE, who was pulled into an escape pod by Lt. Anders, is now under arrest on a nearby abandoned planet. FIVE and Truffault, meanwhile, find themselves on a Volkov-Rusi destroyer targeted by their corporate rivals. In the season opener, "It Doesn't Have To Be Like This," now back on the Raza, the crew turns their attention to Ryo Ishida and the stolen Blink Drive. They track down the location of Ishida's secret research station, but something goes wrong when TWO, THREE, and SIX access. The facility is transported to a region of null space where the rules of physics no longer apply. Back on the Raza, while the Android attempts to locate their missing friends, FIVE experiences flashbacks to her life before the mind wipe.
