Plot Synopsis

Based on the life story of rapper and comedian Dave Burd (aka Lil Dicky), DAVE is a half-hour comedy series that centers on Dave, a suburban neurotic man in his late twenties, who has convinced himself that he's destined to be one of the best rappers of all time. Now he must convince his closest friends, because with their help, he might actually convince the world.

Dave's girlfriend, Ally, is a kindergarten teacher and is one of his main ties to the world outside of hip hop. She loves Dave, but isn't quite so sure how she feels about Lil Dicky. His career ambitions are a source of tension in their relationship.

Mike, Dave's roommate, works a brutally draining finance job and eventually becomes Dave's manager. Somewhat abrasive and also a tad insecure, Mike is the voice of reason in Dave's circle of friends.

Elz is Dave's childhood friend from Philadelphia. Now he is in LA working as an audio engineer, but aspires to be a music producer. Elz gives Dave free studio time to record.

GaTa, playing a heightened version of himself, is Dave's hype man, who moves fluidly -- if misguidedly -- through the rap world. Gata is all about what he calls "the gander" and helps inspire Dave's confidence.

Emma is Ally's roommate and an old friend of Dave's from the advertising world. Undeniably cool, Emma somehow knows all the people and gets into all the parties. She is a designer / director who becomes a creative partner for Dave.

Executive produced by Burd and Kevin Hart, DAVE debuted on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT, as FXX premiered back-to-back episodes. In the series opener, "The Gander," Dave meets GaTa for the first time and gets educated on the social dynamics of the rap world. Under GaTa's tutelage, Dave tries to score a feature verse from YG. Then, in the second episode, "Dave's First," Dave books his first-ever live performance, but it's in the worst setting imaginable. Elz reluctantly agrees to DJ, and Mike introduces Dave to a new skincare routine.

The sophomore season of DAVE premiered on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT, as FXX debuted back-to-back new episodes. With the pressure mounting as he records his debut album, he has to decide if he'll sacrifice friendships, love, and his own sense of self in order to make his dream come true. Simultaneously exasperating and inspiring to his friends, Dave vows to leave no stone unturned on his quest to become the next superstar. Season 2 guest stars will include CL, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Benny Blanco, Kyle Kuzma, Doja Cat, J Balvin, Rae Sremmurd (Swae Lee & Slim Jxmmi), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lil Yachty, Lil Nas X, Kevin Hart and more.

Season 3 of DAVE debuted with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 10-11:20pm on FXX. Dave is headlining his first-ever tour, and looking for love along the way. But as he and the gang crisscross America, they discover firsthand how diverse the cultural landscape of the United States really is -- and how often fame puts pressure on love and friendship. Guest stars for the third season include: Demi Lovato, Don Cheadle, Killer Mike, Machine Gun Kelly, Megan Fox, Rick Ross, Travis Barker, Usher, Rachel McAdams, and more.
On Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 10-11:10pm ET/PT, FXX premiered "Looking for Love," the Season 3 finale of DAVE. Dave's quest for love reaches a conclusion.
