Plot Synopsis

DEAD END EXPRESS is a one-hour reality series that follows rugged adventurers as they haul critical cargo into treacherous tracts of wilderness across the United States. Throughout the American wilderness, families and individuals are physically cut off from society by Rocky Mountains, roaring rivers and frozen tundra. However self-sufficient they might be, sooner or later those isolated in these remote locales must replenish their diminishing resources -- everything from fuel to ammo and food to medicine. By packhorse, dogsled, powerboat, snowmobile or bush plane, the fearless group of men in DEAD END EXPRESS risks all to deliver supplies where no one else can or will. From the dense woodlands of Montana's Flathead National Forest, to the isolated heart of Idaho's Hells Canyon, to the frozen wastelands of Alaska's high tundra, these adventurers live their lives on the edge -- sometimes literally -- and they've got the guts to go the distance, delivering supplies to an eccentric and ever-changing cast of fellow off-gridders. These adventurers are: Brice Barnes, who has been braving the rapids of Hells Canyon since he was just 13 years old and uses a jet boat he built from scratch with its flat-bottom hull and twin Chevy 350 engines; Andy Breland, who knows the wilderness of the Flathead National Forest like the backs of his hands and has been working with his partner, Chuck Allen, to make deliveries on Montana's untamed trails; Rob Kinkade, a pilot for over 20 years, who can haul cargo anywhere in the unforgiving Alaskan terrain where he can land his 1946 Piper PA-12, a plane he's owned for 18 years and modified to the hilt; 54-year-old freight hauler Roger Phillips, who braves Alaska's frozen Yentna River on his snowmobile to haul in the supplies that he and his fellow off-gridders need to survive; and dog musher Jeff Hemann, who has 30 huskies under his command, now working with his 57-year-old father, Paul.

On Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Nat Geo premiered the season finale of DEAD END EXPRESS. In the season ender, "End of the Road," freight hauler Roger Phillips is in Skwentna, Alaska, but he must deliver groceries to a family living 85 miles away. When he gets stuck in the wilderness, he tackles the problem with both patience and creativity. Meanwhile in Willow, father and son dog mushers Jeff and Paul Hemann are helping throw a wilderness wedding for their sick friend Steve and are fighting to complete a series of last-minute tasks. And in Hells Canyon, jet boat pilot Brice Barnes travels on a one-man mission to collect a season's worth of firewood for an elderly off-gridder a task that puts both his logging skills and his boat to the test.
