Plot Synopsis

In this spinoff of DEADLIEST CATCH, Josh Harris takes a once-in-a-lifetime quest to Hawaii to learn about the time his late father, Captain Phil Harris, spent fishing there decades ago. Phil was a legend on the Bering Sea who spent decades fishing the icy and treacherous waters off the coast of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. He captained the F/V Cornelia Marie for more than 20 years, and after his tragic passing, Josh took over the family business, along with business partner Casey McManus. While renovating the F/V Cornelia Marie's captain's quarters, Josh and Casey discovered mysterious Hawaiian fishing charts scribbled with Captain Phil's handwriting, notes and statistics. These charts date as far back as the early '80s and show all the islands of Hawaii, including one of the most premiere fishing spots in the world: the Kona coast. There are fishing secrets on the charts, but to Josh they have so much more. To gain a deeper understanding of fishing in Hawaii, the duo enlists the help of Jeff Silva, one of the island's top commercial fisherman to help them learn the challenging fishery and interpret Phil's charts. This is fishing like Josh and Casey have never fished before and the pair will battle the elements -- and each other -- as they struggle to catch the island's most lucrative bounty -- ahi tuna -- and dive deeper into the mysteries of Phil's time in Hawaii.

The sophomore season of DEADLIEST CATCH: BLOODLINE premiered on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, as discovery+ released the first episode of the new season. Eager to reignite Captain Phil's dream of fishing professionally in Hawaii, Josh and Casey expand their warm water business, setting their sights on the single largest purchaser of seafood in the world: Las Vegas, to fuel their growth on the island chain. Amid lower prices and general disarray in the Hawaiian seafood market due to Covid-19, catching fish isn't the only problem - now, it's selling the catch. With exponential growth and millions in fish sales on the line, Josh, and Casey alongside Jeff Silva, one of the island's top commercial fisherman enlist a fourth partner: Johnathan Hillstrand. With this wildcard in their ranks, the captains look to expand their fleet, their crew, and even sail their famed crab boat, the F/V Cornelia Marie, to Hawaii, all while following Captain Phil's footsteps to build their business and continue to solve the mystery of Phil Harris' secret past. To help navigate these uncertain times Josh dives into Phil Harris' past to find a way forward. The young legacy fisherman turns to brother Jake Harris for information, yielding new insight about Phil's endeavors that point not just to the late patriarch's fishing adventures in the Hawaiian Islands and Mexico, but also to his pursuit of a seafood market much larger than Hawaii -- the mother of all restaurant markets -- Las Vegas. Using Phil's connections, Josh and Casey open the door to a potentially unlimited pipeline of demand for Hawaii's fresh seafood -- if they can catch it.

Season 3 of DEADLIEST CATCH: BLOODLINE premiered on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. As the world opens back up, demand is up for seafood from captain Josh Harris and Casey McManus's warm water fishing operation in Hawaii, but so is the competition. Needing all the help they can get, Josh reaches out to his estranged older brother, Shane, for the first time since their father Captain Phil's death over a decade ago. Can Josh and Shane put bad blood behind them to follow in their father's footsteps to find the fish their company needs to succeed? Or will opening old wounds push the partners and family further apart? With a 3000-pound fish quota to meet every week, Josh, Casey and business partner Jeff Silva are living Captain Phil's dream of running a successful off-season fishing operation in Hawaii. But as demand grows, so does the need for reliable partners to help. The more Josh tries to follow his father's footsteps, the more he is reminded that his estranged older half-brother, Shane had a much deeper knowledge of Captain Phil's formative years fishing in the 1980s. Josh and Shane were close growing up but after the divorce, Phil remarried and the two half-brothers drifted apart. Now this is an opportunity for Shane to join Josh, Casey and Jeff on a fishing adventure that will hopefully rebuild their brotherly bond and provide them with a big payday. As Josh and Shane dive into their shared past, they uncover new clues to Captain Phil's lost years in the 1980s when their dad lived in Louisiana while building his legendary boat, the F/V Cornelia Marie. To follow his trail, the brothers leave Hawaii and explore the Gulf Coast for answers. While there, they find a man who knew Phil and helped build the F/V Cornelia Marie. Soon they discover that Phil himself attempted his own fishing operation in Louisiana. But can his sons pick up the trail decades later and finish what their father started?
