Plot Synopsis

Using computer animation and interviews with scientists, DEADLIEST SPACE WEATHER reveals extreme weather that occurs throughout our solar system, while speculating whether these harsh conditions could persist on Earth and revealing their likely impact on the environment, vegetation, animals and people. Each 30-minute episode features a different meteorological event, such as: deadly acid rainstorms on Venus that can eat through solid steel; hurricane winds that blow at 1,100 miles per hour on Saturn and 400 miles per hour in the Great Red Spot of Jupiter; Mars' massive dust storms; meteors so big that they can alter Earth's atmosphere and climate; and lightning bolts 10,000 times more powerful than anything on Earth. Expert scientists include: Michio Kaku, internationally best-selling author and expert in Einstein's unified field theory, who is also the most authoritative and most authentic understanding of the world of the future; Alex Filippenko, the recipient of the most prestigious teaching awards at UC Berkeley, who was the only person to have been a member of both teams that revealed the accelerating expansion of the Universe; and Greg Laughlin, Professor and Department Chair of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California at Santa Cruz, whose detects extrasolar planets and characterizes the weather in planetary atmospheres.
