Plot Synopsis
DEADLY SEAS explores violent and baleful bodies of water, while highlighting stories of those who courageously face these wicked watery leviathans over and over again. Each 60-minute episode focuses on a single body of water, including: The Bering Sea -- bordered by Alaska, Russia and the Bering Strait -- which, during the Winter of 2011, had the worst storm in 40 years, endangering the salvage tug Redeemer with 20-foot waves and hurricane force winds; The Gulf of Alaska, stretching from the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island to the Alexander Archipelago, on which two boats, the Irene H and the Sea Barb, embark for for a competitive fishing derby that could net $250,000 each in just 10 days; and The North Atlantic, which has claimed the lives of 165 of America's fishermen in the last 10 years, endangers a boat that's dredging for scallops in the shallow fishing grounds off the east coast, where breaking waves can sink a boat without a trace but an eight-day fishing trip can bring in $350,000 worth of scallops.
