Plot Synopsis
Inventor Dean Kamen and correspondent Joanne Colan explore emerging technologies that are being developed to tackle today's most daunting global challenges and improve life for all mankind. Kamen and Colan embed themselves with leading scientists, doctors and inventors to reveal visionary scientific advancements, including space-age robotics, artificial intelligence, and breakthroughs in biology. The episodes cover the following topics: "Meet the Microbots," showing how tiny robots enter the bloodstream, find cancerous cells without anyone's guidance and kill them; "Building the Bionic Body World," focusing on advancements in prosthetics and limb replacement; "Robot Revolution," highlighting how robots find earthquake victims, defuse explosives, and replace soldiers in combat; "BCI: The Mind Unchained," pointing out how a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) -- a direct link between the mind and computer -- givse speech back to those rendered mute and restores limb mobility to those who are paralyzed; "Forward Motion," featuring how electric cars and other cutting-edge technologies provide mobility-on-demand. Kamen is a globally renowned inventor with more than 400 patents, including the Segway, the insulin pump and the robotic prosthetic "Luke Arm." Colan is the former host of Rocketboom from 2006-2009, which gave her access to the world's most influential New Media personalities.
