Plot Synopsis

Hosted by former U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers, also the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, each one-hour episode of DECLASSIFIED: UNTOLD STORIES OF AMERICAN SPIES features a newly declassified mission told first-hand by the agents who lived it, providing viewers with unprecedented access to the secret world of espionage. This series covers missions set in locations and time periods from Cold War era Moscow to modern day Iran, from the streets of 1980s Cuba to today's bustling Beijing. All 16 intelligence agencies from the CIA to the FBI are represented, revealing the unbelievable true stories of America's covert operations in the United States and around the world.

DECLASSIFIED: UNTOLD STORIES OF AMERICAN SPIES returned for its eight-episode second season on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on CNN, again featuring former U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers as host. Season 2 chronicles successful missions to target America's biggest threats including a software pirate, an international arms dealer, terrorist hijackers and the world's biggest heroin trafficker. The season opener, "The Spies Next Door: Operation Ghost Stories," reveals the story of undercover Russian sleeper agents living in the U.S. and one of the largest counterintelligence investigations in the history of the FBI.

Season 3 of DECLASSIFIED: UNTOLD STORIES OF AMERICAN SPIES premiered on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on CNN. The new season chronicles the missions to target America's biggest threats including war criminals, Russian spies, drug cartels, a Russian arms dealer and hackers. The season opener, "Tracking Terror: The 9/11 Subway Plot," explores the NSA and FBI's efforts to thwart an al-Qaeda terrorist plot to blow up the New York City subway on the eighth anniversary of September 11.
On Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 11pm ET/PT, CNN premiered the Season 3 finale of DECLASSIFIED. In the season ender, "Operation Firewall: The Takedown of Shadowcrew," the United States Secret Service conducts a groundbreaking mission during the early years of the internet to take down one of the first criminal hacker groups -- Shadowcrew.
