Plot Synopsis

Deep South Paranormal Research is a bayou-based team, a homegrown blend of Cajun, Creole and self-proclaimed rednecks, who investigate paranormal events and unlock mysteries that have baffled Southerners for years. Whether they're exploring swamps for apparitions or haunted plantation houses for Southern voodoo legends, this research team not only deals with the hazards of paranormal phenomenon, but also battles physical dangers like gators, snakes, spiders, wild hogs, and mosquitos. In each 60-minute episode, the team visits one haunted location, such as: the Southern Forest Heritage Museum, an abandoned sawmill in Longleaf, LA; Alabama's Bear Creek Swamp; the Old Cahawba ghost town in Alabama; Florida's Manntown Cemetery; the Mont Helena Plantation in the Mississippi Delta; and the site of Florida's largest Civil War battle, Olustee Battlefield. The Deep South Paranormal Research teams includes: Hart Fortenbery, the godfather of the group, who has been interested in the paranormal all his life and currently has issues with active spirits who still inhabit his family home on the Vermilion River in Lafayette; Keith Ramsey, who joined the group after a lifetime of paranormal events that began with visions at the age of 5 and has had the gift of sensitivity and sight since he saw his first apparition at age 9; Benny Reed, who got into paranormal investigation after experiencing a number of strange ghost sightings and poltergeist occurrences while growing up in Elora, TN; Jonathan Hodges, who applies science and inventive tactics to the group's investigations and who first became interested in the paranormal in his parents' house, where he always felt that there was something more to the home's strange occurrences; Kevin Betzer, the gadget guru, who has amassed an impressive array of ghost hunting equipment and who found his calling in 2005 when he moved next door to Randy Hardy; Randy Hardy, who specializes in provoking ghosts to draw them out when they won't otherwise reveal themselves; and Kali Hardy, who prefers to work the thermal cameras and is often the target of paranormal activity.
