Plot Synopsis

DIRTY GREAT MACHINES introduces technologically advanced drilling, excavation and tunnelling equipment, exploring how they work. From bucket wheel excavators to monster maritime machines and mighty drills, these pieces of equipment take on some of the world's most challenging engineering projects. In the first episode, get up close and personal with diggers burrowing below the world's cities -- a massive boring machine facing the challenge of excavating Britain's deepest-ever tunnel in London and a giant mechanical worm making the earth move just meters beneath Mexico's soaring skyscrapers. Science Channel aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10pm ET.

On Monday, August 24, 2015 at 10pm ET, Science Channel premiered the season finale of DIRTY GREAT MACHINES, immediately following an encore presentation (8-10pm) of the show's first two episodes. The season ender, "Beasts of Destruction," takes a look at the machines that are making mincemeat of the hardest rocks on the planet.
