Plot Synopsis

DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET is a one-hour reality series that follows Denver-based veterinarian Dr. Jeff Young, as he and 30-plus staff at Planned Pethood Plus veterinary clinic treat and save the lives of countless pets in the Mile High City and beyond. For 80,000-plus clients and their pets, the clinic represents one last hope -- and possibly the difference between life and death -- as Dr. Jeff and his team of veterinary experts complete approximately 30 surgeries a day while they attend to a diverse clientele and their pets while even taking their services on the road to those who cannot access his clinic. Plus, Dr. Jeff is committed to providing low-cost animal care to all and has put animal welfare first and foremost. A passionate advocate for spaying and neutering pets, Dr. Jeff he has performed more than 165,000 of these population-controlling procedures that improve long-term animal health. In this series, cameras reveal the often tense and chaotic atmosphere at the clinic with its continuous flow of urgent emergencies on top of scheduled appointments, including cases like: a dog that goes into cardiac arrest shortly after arriving at his clinic, but whose owners can't afford to pay the vet bill; rookie Dr. Amy performing a complex procedure on a dog that was kicked in the head by a horse; a small dog that's swallowed something big and potentially fatal; a litter of 10 puppies that gets diagnosed with canine distemper, a highly contagious and deadly virus, which puts the clinic in lockdown; a cat's bellyache that leaves the veterinarians and the cat's owner scratching their heads; and more animals who need help, such as a balding parrot, a litter of piglets, a special herd of cows, and many more critters.

Season 2 of DR. JEFF: MOUNTAIN VET premiered on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT no Animal Planet. The cases in the 12-episode second season are more intense than ever when Dr. Jeff Young and his team go to great lengths to save the lives of both beloved pets and rescued wild animals. This season, they treat more mysterious illnesses, perform surgeries on creatures including little foxes and big cats and rehabilitate rescued animals before they find forever homes. There is no animal this team won't try to save, even if it means leaving the modern-day conveniences of the clinic and traveling high into the Rocky Mountains to get to them. In the season opener, "Nine Lives," Dr. Jeff battles to save the shattered leg of a beloved dog hit by a car. Then Dr. Amy takes on a new challenge treating seven bad-tempered chickens. And a tiny kitten found unconscious at a construction site unites everyone in a fight to save it.

The third season of DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET premiered on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. The new season opens with "Full Speed Ahead," as Denver's busiest vet is back, with more patients than ever before. Dr. Jeff fights to help a dog walk again. Dr. Amy operates on a cat with a strange appetite. And the team heads out to a sanctuary to help an injured tiger.

Season 4 of DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET premiered on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the season opener, "A Little Miracle," when a beloved poodle arrives at the clinic, Dr. Jeff discovers a life-threatening condition and rushes him into surgery. Four turtles, unable to eat, have their first vet visit in 43 years. And Dr. Jeff and team head out to operate on an alligator.

Season 5 of DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET premiered on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the season opener, "Close to Home," Dr. Jeff helps a remote town in Colorado overwhelmed by feral cats. A staff member's beloved dog needs emergency surgery. Dr. Baier gives some injured birds of prey a second chance. And Jeff races to save the life of a family's precious Chihuahua.

DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET returned for its sixth season on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the season opener, "At Home with Wolves," a young girl hopes that Dr. Jeff can save her puppy from a deadly virus. The team treats a stray cat with a life-threatening injury. And Dr. Jeff must gain the trust of rescued wolves to help an ailing member of the pack.

Season 7 of DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET debuted on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the season opener, "A First for Dr. Jeff," Dr. Jeff performs a surgery he'd never done before on a dog with labored breathing. A senior canine was abandoned by his owner and the staff must find him a new forever home, while neglected ornate box turtles are saved by Dr. Baier.

On Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT, Animal Planet debuted the eighth season of DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET. In the season premiere, "A New Adventure," Dr. Jeff, his wife Dr. Petra and vet tech Hector, roll up their sleeves and head to Leadville, an old Colorado mining town, with an inspiring goal: to transform an abandoned restaurant into a new clinic. Here, they'll provide desperately needed vet care to an underserved mountain community. Dr. Jeff trades his scalpel for a sledgehammer, and restaurant demolition is underway! Back in Denver, Dr. Baier treats a sneezing parrot; Dr. Jeff fights to save a Yorkie's leg from amputation; and Dr. Jeff's daughter, Melody, discovers a worrisome mass on her rescued dog Freya.

This season, the team's caseload spans almost the entire animal kingdom, from a raccoon injured in an illegal trap to a tiny gecko with a big surprise. Dr. Jeff treats a puppy who needs reconstructive surgery to survive, while Dr. Baier removes a fishhook from a wild goose. And when clinic receptionist Jerri's newly adopted puppy becomes seriously ill, Dr. Petra steps in to save the pup's life. Then Dr. Jeff hits the road, traveling to a wolf sanctuary to spay and neuter a pack of wolf hybrids. Every day brings incredible stories and life-or-death stakes: Heroic Labrador Bob suffers a serious wound protecting his owner, and Dr. Don treats a Yorkie so obese she can barely walk. And between complex cases, Dr. Jeff even finds time to dig a swimming pool for his beloved dog Fred.
