Plot Synopsis

In each 30-minute episode, three donut-making masters face off in two elimination challenges, as they vie for the $10,000 prize. In the first round, the three donut makers compete in a mystery ingredient elimination round. Then, the two finalists each make three donuts with a theme -- examples include "Bollywood," "Retro Diner," "The Great Canadian Donut" and "High School Cafeteria" -- with the winner taking home $10,000. The judges panel, who decide which fried desserts make the cut, include chef David Rocco, culinary expert Maggie McKeown and Toronto restauranteur Zane Caplansky. Cooking Channel aired the U.S. premiere of DONUT SHOWDOWN on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10pm ET.

DONUT SHOWDOWN returned for its second season on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 10pm ET on Cooking Channel, with a new host (Daryn Jones), all three judges returning from Season 1 and four new judges: Duff Goldman, Eden Grinshpan, Elizabeth Falkner, and Jeff Mahin. In the Season 2 opener, a "Vegas" episode, three cheftestants -- a pastry chef from Tucson, a PhD from Toronto, and a donut savant from St. Louis -- compete in a speedy elimination round with Jelly Beans as the mystery ingredient, with the last two standing taking part in a Vegas-themed Donut Showdown.
