Plot Synopsis

Erica Shepherd, a brilliant former CIA operative now known as one of the most notorious traitors in recent American history, is serving life in a Supermax prison. Against every fiber of his being, but with nowhere else to turn, FBI agent Will Keaton enlists Shepherd to help track down a fiercely dangerous and elusive criminal she knows all too well. While Shepherd and Keaton have different motivations for bringing the enemy to justice, they both know that to catch a spy...they must think like one. And, later, when a former CIA operative is murdered, Keaton enlists Shepherd to help recover valuable intel that could take down Tal once and for all. But the question remains, can Shepherd be trusted?

On Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT, NBC premiered the season finale of THE ENEMY WITHIN. In the season ender, "Sierra Maestra," Tal's war on the CIA expands to two fronts. Keaton and the Cointel team must locate the domestic target before Chigorin launches an all-out assault on the unsuspecting innocents. Shepherd convinces Keaton to let her go to Cuba to thwart Tal's attack on Sierra Maestra, the CIA's secret detention center imprisoning his operatives. Shepherd's ever-shifting allegiance raises the question if she is there to stop Tal or join him?
