Plot Synopsis

After having a very public workplace meltdown, Amy Jellicoe, a former health and beauty executive, spent three months contemplating and meditating at a treatment center in Hawaii. Now, after re-examining herself and returning home, she's ready to start her life again. But she has no job and no love life. She's spending all her money on therapy. She's living with her mom until she can get her own place. And she's never felt better in her whole life. Amy, who Laura Dern describes as "a wonderful anti-hero hero," starts her journey to enlightenment along an unconventional path between who she is, who she wants to be, and what can be tolerated by others, such as: Helen, her mother, who delivers well-meaning but unwanted advice, and feels it's her right since she's giving Amy a place to live; Levi, her slacker ex-husband, who finds solace in recreational drugs; and her co-workers when she eventually re-enters the workplace. At the conclusion of Season 1, Amy finally presented her research on Abaddonn Industries' misconduct to the company, only to be laughed out of the room. Undeterred, she became more determined to bring down this bastion of corporate greed and corruption. In Season 2, Amy redoubles her efforts to gather evidence against Abaddonn with the support of Tyler, her meek IT ally, and enlists journalist Jeff Flender in her cause. Meanwhile, Amy's ex, Levi, continues to struggle with rehab, and it remains to be seen if he will embrace recovery and return as the man she always wanted him to be. Season 2 premiered on HBO on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 9:30pm ET.
