Plot Synopsis
EVIL is a one-hour drama series that focuses on Kristen Bouchard, a skeptical female psychologist, who joins priest-in-training David Acosta and contractor Ben Shakir as they investigate the Catholic Church's backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and hauntings. Kristen cuts ties as an expert witness for the District Attorney after being pushed to lie in court regarding an alleged murderer who appeared to be possessed. To make ends meet, Kristen accepts a job offer from David, a former adventure-seeking journalist now studying to be a priest and tasked by the Church to assess unexplained phenomena. Rounding out the trio is Ben, an even-tempered realist recruited by Acosta for his carpentry skills, which he uses to uncover practical rationales behind "hauntings." Ever logical, Kristen is certain science can provide answers to every incident they encounter -- including her own chillingly real night terrors. That is, until she meets Leland Townsend, a sinister man who oozes menace and threatens her and her four young daughters. Undeterred, Kristen, David and Ben set out to assess inexplicable events to see if there's a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work. On their first case together, the trio determine whether a serial killer is possessed by a demon or merely a psychopath. During the investigation, Kristen finds that she has a taste for the work and is invited to join the team on a permanent basis.
The sophomore season of EVIL dropped on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Paramount+ released the first episode on the 13-episode new season. The second season brings evil closer to home. Kristen struggles with her darker nature, while David suffers temptation as he gets closer to his ordination. Meanwhile Ben is visited by night terrors that prey on his greatest fears. In the season opener, "N Is for Night Terrors," the team is given the task of evaluating the likelihood of Leland being possessed, which if decided true, would require them to exorcise him. After a one-month break, EVIL returned with new episodes on Sunday, August 29, 2021 on Paramount+. In the summer premiere, "S Is for Silence," the team is dispatched to a monastery to investigate the corpse of Father Thomas, whose body has not decayed in the year following his death.
The 10-episode third season of EVIL debuted on Sunday, June 12, 2022, as Paramount+ released the season opener. Season 3 begins moments after the end of Season 2: when a newly ordained David and Kristen kiss. The two not only have to navigate this fraught new reality, but contend with David's involvement with "the entity," an espionage unit within the Catholic church. Meanwhile, Ben finds his brain breaking from their unsolved cases and turns to his sister for help.

The team investigates a household terrorized by a demonic infestation and is shocked when they find out the house is next door to Kristen's. Meanwhile, Kristen is surprised to learn that her frozen egg was never destroyed and purchased anonymously which leads her on a new adventure.
Six weeks earlier -- on Wednesday, July 6 -- Paramount+ announced that it renewed EVIL for a fourth season.
