Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments, archival footage and photos, and interviews with family, friends, neighbors, crime experts and law enforcement, EVIL UP CLOSE examines the lives of Britain's most notorious modern-day criminals, including: Levi Bellfield, a part-time pimp and a nightclub bouncer, who murdered British schoolgirl Milly Dowler -- but she wasn't his last victim; Derrick 'Birdy' Bird, a self-employed taxi driver in the North of England, who shot his twin brother David and his family's solicitor, before continuing a shooting spree that hit 24 people, and killed 12; Delroy Grant, a man revered in his home Jamaican community, who was a serial rapist hunted by police for hundreds of vicious attacks over 17 years; Antoni Imiela (aka the M25 Rapist), a seemingly loving husband and father, who targeted his victims in isolated areas near Britain's busiest road and had raped eight women, the youngest of whom was just 10 years old, for a year; Ivan Payne, a priest in the Catholic Church, terrorized children for three decades -- and fifteen years of denial, a former altar boy broke his silence; Peter Moore, a local cinema owner in North Wales, who committed a spate of sadistic, sexual and murderous attacks on men in the rural towns he served; Beverley Allitt, a children's nurse popular with parents, who killed four and seriously injured another nine of her young patients, smothering some, injecting others with poison or forcing air into their veins; William Jordan, a serial bigamist and IT wiz kid working for the British government, who cruised up and down motorway networks he used bugging technology, mind games and marriage to steal from the women he claimed to love, leaving them penniless and homeless; Stephen Griffiths (aka The Crossbow Cannibal), a PhD Criminology student, who murdered three women and a lethal crossbow fired at point blank range, after killing his victims he chopped up their body parts and ate some of them; and many more. The Biography Channel aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 3pm ET.
