Plot Synopsis

In the 19th century New York Herald reporter Henry Morton Stanley led 2,000 men in search of Dr. David Livingstone. After an eight-month expedition, Stanley found Livingstone on November 10, 1871 in Ujiji, a small village on the shore of Lake Tanganyika. In this eight-hour adventure reality series, four explorers -- navigator Pasquale Scatturro, wildlife expert Mireya Mayor, survivalist Benedict Allen and journalist Kevin Sites -- follow Stanley's route from the Eastern shore of Africa to Ujiji and complete the 1000-mile journey in only 30 days.
