Plot Synopsis
Using footage of real-life rescues captured by the rescuers themselves, EXTREME RESCUES is a six-part docuseries that features these rescuers putting their lives on the line saving others. The series premiered on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 10:30pm ET/PT on National Geographic Channel, moving to its regular timeslot -- Sundays at 10pm -- the following week. In the series opener (Mar 1), "Back from the Dead," a kayaker in New Zealand fights to save his drowning friend. Then, in the second episode (Mar 8), "Disaster Strikes," a novice caver is trapped in a flooded passage; a helicopter crew strives to rescue an injured hiker from an inaccessible crevice; Australian fishermen are stranded miles from shore in shark-infested waters.
