Plot Synopsis

FACING TRAUMA chronicles the harrowing stories of women who have been left disfigured from violent circumstances and senseless accidents, as they struggle to reclaim their lives -- both physically and emotionally -- with the help of reconstructive surgeon Dr. Andrew Jacono and licensed clinical psychiatrist Dr. Janet E. Taylor. Jacono is a world-class facial plastic surgeon who has made it his mission to serve the victims of devastating acts of domestic violence and crime. Taylor is a certified life coach who specializes in battling the emotional impact of mental illness. Together, they work to heal both the internal and external scars of victims. Each one-hour episode features two stories of victims and their journey to recovery with Dr. Jacono and his team, as well as counseling sessions with Dr. Taylor. Discovery Fit & Health first aired FACING TRAUMA as a one-hour special on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 10pm ET.
