Plot Synopsis

Each season of FAMILY UNDER CONSTRUCTION follows a different family that rebuilds and refurbishes a house, as they try to provide a new home for their children. In Season 1, Greg and Danielle Bryk, serial movers who have lived in 20 houses in 17 years, finally decide to build their family dream home. To stay within their budget, they buy a 1940s house that needs a lot of work, and they start by tearing down the inside to the studs. After a few construction mishaps and interruptions, the couple decides to finish work on two essential rooms -- a working bathroom and a basic kitchen. After fixing a few more leaks, refurbishing a porch, and performing an ancient house cleansing ceremony, Greg, Danielle and their three children finally move into their home even though the inside and outside need significant work. For Fall 2012, Season 2 features Phil and Linda Campanella (pictured), who lived with Phil's parents after their first home burned down, are half-way through rebuilding their house from scratch, while they camp out and rough it on the construction site. They start by rushing to finish the drywall, plumbing and make the staircase safe, so they can move in, but bad weather and a big argument over the stairs threaten to derail their plans, delaying the time they can move into a half-built house that's dusty, noisy and infested with mice. As Linda struggles to make decisions about decor and makes a few last-minute changes, Phil must figure out a way to fit these new options in the budget and finish them on time.
