Plot Synopsis

Based on the Danish series BANKEROT, FEED THE BEAST is a one-hour drama series about two best friends who take one last shot at their dream of opening a restaurant. Dion Pappas and Tommy Shannon are like brothers, with all the love -- and all the complications -- that comes with it. Dion, fresh out of prison and in debt to the mob -- and unable to stay out of trouble -- is inspired to open his dream restaurant with his childhood friend Tommy. Tommy is a former sommelier and functional alcoholic who is raising his son, TJ, after the tragic death of his wife, Rie, who was a talented chef and artistic visionary for the restaurant. TJ is Tommy's 10-year-old mixed-race son who is left unable to speak after witnessing his mother's tragic death. For two friends on the brink of losing everything, a dusty pipe-dream of opening up an upscale restaurant in their hometown of the Bronx is all they have left to turn their lives around. They push each other to follow through on their dreams, welcome love into their lives, and overcome their demons. They also betray, backstab, manipulate and coerce each other into the most dangerous situations imaginable. It's a story of friendship, fatherhood, grief, larceny, arson, drugs, adultery, murder, love -- and blazingly original cooking. Other characters include: Pilar, a quirky single woman, who meets Tommy in a grief group, and is desperately searching for true love; Tommy's father, Adian, who is a shrewd and ruthless businessman and unapologetic racist; and Patrick Woijchik (aka The Tooth Fairy), who is a soft-spoken, brutally intimidating local mobster with a penchant for pulling teeth.
