Plot Synopsis

Using boats only one-third the size of Bering Sea trawlers, four captains battle the cold Atlantic waters, survive extreme weather and compete against each other, as they struggle to make a living by fishing for bluefin tuna. Weighing in between 320 and 1,500 pounds, bluefin are the most expensive fish in the world, because their price -- as much as $20,000 per fish -- is driven up by Japanese demand for sushi. The largest tuna swim north to the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean where they're caught the old-fashioned way: with rod and reel. The four captains are: Paulie, the master, who struggles to make a catch -- and keep his secrets; Donnie, the legend, who is in for the fight of his life; Carmine, the sport fisherman, who faces a big decision; and Anthony, the youngest captain, who is facing ruin.
