Plot Synopsis

Told from the imagined vantage point of murder victims, FINAL WITNESS examines cases from start to finish while featuring an indie-band soundtrack, dramatic re-creations and interviews with real-life witnesses, prosecutors, law enforcement, family and friends. Each 60-minute episode tells the story of one of America's most shocking cases, including: the Caffey family murders in rural East Texas, where a husband barely survived being shot multiple times, but his wife and two young sons were not as fortunate -- but what happened to his daughter?; Zack Bowen's descent into madness, during which he strangled girlfriend Addie Hall in their apartment, lived with her corpse for two weeks, dismembered and baked her body parts, and then ended his own life by leaping to his death from the 8th floor of the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel; the Long family murders, which spawned an international manhunt involving the FBI after Christian Longo, a consummate liar guilty of financial fraud, dragged his wife and their children on a manic road trip across America, where he murdered his family in Newport, Oregon in December 2001; and many more tales of murder. On Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 10pm, ABC aired "Final Witness" as an episode of PRIMETIME CRIME, which served as a backdoor pilot for this series.
